Hudson Commons

Architect: KPF Lighting design for Hudson Commons, a repositioned, LEED Platinum Class-A office tower at the gateway to the Hudson Yards submarket. EMY’s lighting approach supports the building’s transformation—balancing performance, clarity, and architectural expression while contributing to the project’s sustainability goals. The design emphasizes vertical illumination, glare control, and efficient ambient lighting to enhance daylight penetration and occupant comfort throughout the workspace. In the lobby, a monumental 68-foot-long custom light installation acts as both beacon and guide, leading visitors from the entry to the elevator core. The fixture integrates illuminated architectural materials and sculptural glass elements to create a strong visual identity and arrival moment. The result is a contemporary workplace environment that merges environmental responsibility with a distinct spatial and experiential character.
