Tempo Times Square
The lighting design for Tempo Times Square was conceived as a refined counterbalance to the intensity and visual saturation of its surroundings. Located at the heart of Times Square, the project uses light to create clarity, comfort, and rhythm—transforming a high-energy urban environment into a composed and welcoming hospitality experience. A layered lighting strategy combines soft ambient illumination, architectural highlights, and focused accents to enhance spatial depth and material expression. Transitions between public and private zones are articulated through calibrated shifts in brightness and contrast, subtly guiding guests through the hotel while reinforcing moments of arrival, pause, and retreat. Warm tones and controlled glare were prioritized throughout guest-facing areas to promote visual comfort and a sense of calm, allowing the architecture and interiors to take precedence. At Tempo Times Square, lighting operates as both an experiential and architectural tool—shaping atmosphere, supporting wayfinding, and redefining the guest experience within one of New York City’s most dynamic contexts.
